California. A few hours after 3 days of rain you can still hop on your bike and enjoy the last of the weekend. You got street art, drum circle with a Super Friends drum set and of course the beach. Here are a few pics from my bike ride today where I reside, good ol’ Surf City Huntington Beach. Like any of you really care but here you go anyways.

OK, so the homie Adam and Kevin started building and selling Vintage Fixed Gear Bikes. They’ve been cranking (no pun intened) these out like crazy. They even started a blog to showcase what they’ve done and what they have to sell. Check it out at http://fixiefreaks.wordpress.com/ and order one from them today.

I was referred to them by Urban Daddy’s newletter. IRO Cycle’s site is pretty sick, all done in Flash. You can configure a bike from choosing the frame and components to your specifications all on their interactive bike builder. Now, should sell one of my mountain bikes or just go ahead and pick up an IRO Fixie? Decisions, decisions…

Finally finished my Haro V5 project. Not the most high end components but they will do for how I ride. Hopefully my ankle heals fast so I can go try it out.

This just came in the mail yesterday, brand new 2006 Haro V5 frame. It’s gonna be my first time putting a mountain bike together. This bike is priced @ $880 as a complete bike on the Haro website. The project is to try to build this bike waaaaay under the suggested retail price and not using low end component parts. Let’s see if I’ll be able to put this together with out an actual bike tool kit.

Trek and Nike will end their license deal at the end of the year. Looks like the two companies had marketing differences. Nike wanted to focus on high-end and Trek wants to do a full line of apparel and footwear. My guess is with Lance Armstrong retired they lost their main source of marketing for two companies as a joint. They have already benefited from each other with the help of Armstrong’s success and it’s time to move on. Lets see what Nike will bring to the cycling world for 2008.
